Empowering families in Nelson, BC with holistic OT support

As a pediatric occupational therapist in the Kootenay area, I provide specialized support for families who are navigating high sensitivity, illness and/or the complexities of childhood trauma.

What is Occupational Therapy?

In the context of children and families, OT emphasizes:

Developmental Skills: Assisting children in developing essential life skills, such as fine motor skills, self-care routines, and executive functioning.

Sensory Processing: Supporting children who experience challenges with sensory processing, helping them engage with their environment comfortably.

Coping Strategies: Providing strategies to help children and families cope with daily challenges, including stress and emotional regulation.

Multi-Sensory Approaches: Using a variety of sensory activities to facilitate learning and emotional expression.

Feeding Therapy for Selective Eaters: Addressing feeding challenges through personalized strategies and interventions to promote positive eating experiences.

Imagine transforming the way you connect with your child.

With an OT's guidance, you’ll gain practical tools to support your child’s unique needs while discovering ways to stay grounded and responsive as a parent. Together, you’ll create routines that bring calm, connection, and resilience to your family, making each day feel more manageable and meaningful.

Many paths address parenting challenges, but not all foster strong connections or lasting growth.

after all…

  • Endless Research & Overwhelm – Scrolling through countless articles, blogs, and forums in search of answers can leave you feeling more confused than supported, with information overload and conflicting advice.

  • One-Size-Fits-All Approaches – Standard parenting tips or generic developmental advice may help initially, but they rarely address the unique needs of your child or the nuances of your family life.

  • Powering Through Alone – Trying to “push through” difficult days without support can lead to burnout, missed growth opportunities, and strained connections with your child and family.

Nice to meet you.

As an occupational therapist with over 20 years of experience, I have a passion for supporting mothers through the transition to motherhood, especially when navigating illness or neurodiversity within the family. Having been a caregiver to my husband during his 10 years with advanced cancer and raising two highly sensitive children, I understand firsthand the complexities of balancing caregiving, competing needs and managing family dynamics. My approach focuses on helping mothers create nurturing environments, foster resilience, and develop practical strategies for mental and physical well-being during this challenging journey.
